About Me
I didn’t always know I’d be a hairstylist. In fact, at the time, I didn’t think I had many other options. I believed I wasn’t academic enough for anything else, so in 2004, straight out of school, I started an apprenticeship in King’s Lynn.
It turned out I had a real skill for hairdressing. I spent seven years working in a salon, building my experience and learning everything I could. But after a while, I wanted more. I decided to step away to travel, experiencing new places and cultures. When I returned, I set up as a mobile stylist and later began working from home, balancing my love for hairdressing with another local job—all while still making time to travel.

My Relationship with My Hair—A Journey
Before I was 12, I wore my hair in natural protective styles. Then I discovered box braids, and I loooved how easy they were. Throughout secondary school, I mostly wore braids, weaves, or wigs.
By the time I started working in a salon, the sleek, straight look was in, and since I had access to stylists, it was easy to keep my hair straightened. But over time, I noticed the damage—my ends kept breaking, and my hair never grew past a certain point.
In 2013, I started wearing my natural curls more, and by 2014, I fully embraced them—except when I got a haircut, which always meant straightening. But finding a stylist who understood how to cut curly hair properly was impossible.
I didn’t just feel like hairdressers didn’t understand curls—I knew they didn’t. The stylists were trained under the same national curriculum as me, which treated all hair as the same. We were taught precision cutting, which doesn’t always work for curls.
I started searching for curl specialists who truly understood curls. After months of watching their work, I was ready to take the plunge and travel three hours for my first curly cut in 2021 at The Curl Clinic—the same place I later trained.
Why I Specialise in Curly Hair
By 2017, I had stepped away from hairdressing completely, convinced I was done with it. But after some time, I found myself drawn back to hair. I took The Curl Clinic’s course mainly to see if I wanted to return. If I didn’t, at least I’d know how to care for my own curls, my children’s hair, and help close friends and family.
Instead of just learning, I became deeply invested—not just in curly hair care, but in ingredients. I wanted to know why certain ingredients work, which ones don’t, and how to filter out all the misinformation in the industry.
I’ve always loved helping people, and now that I had the training, research, and personal experience, I wanted to share it. I specialise in caring for curls the healthy way, helping others understand their hair and giving them the tools to nourish and embrace their waves, curls, kinks, and coils.

My first curl Transformation in 2021
My Mission
Curl Devotion exists to celebrate curls in all their forms. My mission is to empower my clients to feel confident in their natural hair and equipped with the knowledge to care for their curls properly.
For too long, curly hair has been underserved—misleading product claims, a lack of education, and a one-size-fits-all approach to cuts and styling have left people frustrated and unsure of how to care for their own hair. My goal is to change that.
I know these struggles firsthand. Even as a trained hairstylist, I spent years wearing my hair in a single-length cut because I didn’t know how to shape it for my curl pattern. It wasn’t until I embraced curly-specific haircuts and styling techniques that I truly understood what my hair needed to thrive.
Now, I’m committed to helping others overcome these challenges—so they can stop fighting their hair and start celebrating it..
My first curl Transformation in 2021
Always Learning, Always Improving
I don’t believe in “one and done” training. Curly hair education is constantly evolving, and so am I. I make it my mission to keep learning, testing, and refining my techniques to ensure every client gets the best possible care for their curls.
The Curl Journey—Be Kind to Yourself
I’m still on my own curly hair journey. Accepting my natural, healthy curls hasn’t always been easy—My curls coiled in a way I wasn’t used to; I was so familiar with frizz and no definition that at first, it didn’t feel like me. But that’s the beauty of the journey. Learning to care for your curls is a process of patience, trial and error, and self-love. Embracing your curls isn’t about achieving perfection, it’s about understanding, adapting, and appreciating them for what they are. So be kind to yourself.
